Testing Out DarkFest Features!

In episode 5 of the Darkfest build, the stoke is sky-high!

With only an hour before Sam Reynolds had to leave to catch the plane back to the UK, he decided it would be rude not to squeeze in some last-minute step-up sends.

“It makes me want to throw tricks, INSTANTLY!” - Sam Reynolds, after his first hit of the step-up.

And that’s exactly what he did. With the clock ticking, Sam sent a massive superman before packing up and jetting off to see his family before the event began. - Not a bad way to wrap up a trip!

Meanwhile, Theo Erlangsen was kept occupied trying to calm his nerves to hit this monster-sized step up. (Even though he’d ridden it countless times in the past).

Theo dropped in and sent in clean! You could feel the stoke.

“It’s so nice! I want to do it again immediately!” - Theo Erlangsen.

On his next go, Theo went for a cheeky one-leg hanger (a trick where the rider throws a straightened leg off the bike). But he crashed on the landing. No harm done though - he got up, dusted himself off, and on his third attempt, absolutely nailed it!

With Sam gone, Theo, Dylan, and the rest of the crew kept the session alive, hitting lap after lap of the step-up for the rest of the day.

As the sun rose the following morning, the digger crew were back at it - this time focusing on building height and shaping the sharkfin gap. This beast of a feature throws riders clean over the run-in to the step-up and quarter pipe.

To get the dirt to bind just right, the crew was out there spraying the dirt down with water until it had that perfect tackiness. Hours of shaping, smoothing, and fine-tuning later, the boys gave it a few test hits.

But something was off…

Everyone agreed they were riding too close to the top of the sharkfin. With surgical precision, the two digger drivers got to work, carefully lifting boulders onto the sharkfin, lining them end-to-end, before packing dirt in and around them to create a solid elevated wall.

Seeing these guys work together like this just shows the level of expertise they have. Top-notch digger skills!
